2013 RED HOT HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY TOURNAMENT
20th Annual
The Red Hot Tournament is the largest and most prestigious high school rugby tournament in Ontario and amongst the very best in North America. The 2013 version boasts an anticipated 100 teams competing in midget, junior and senior boys divisions all over Ontario.
The Red Hot results will be one of the tools used for seeding teams for the Ontario championships scheduled for one month later - the OFSAA AAAA/AAA and AA/A tournaments for senior boys and the Barbarian Cup tournament for junior boys.
The regional qualifying tournaments will be held at university, college and high school sites across the province so that high school players will have a greater awareness of the opportunities available to play high quality OUA and OCAA rugby after graduating from high school. The hosting universities, colleges and high schools will be providing varsity athletes as site organizers and will also provide information about campus life and academics.
All teams are guaranteed 3 games at the regional tournaments. Every effort will be made to ensure that teams are placed in the regional tournaments so as to avoid mismatches, keep travel distances reasonable yet at the same time provide competition from beyond local associations.
Four teams from each regional tournament will advance to the medal games that will be played on the weekend. There will be individual awards for all players on both the gold and silver medal winning teams and Red Hot plaques for the schools.
